Venom is a combination of a simbiot and a human known as Eddie Brock. The Venom simbiot found Eddie after Spider-Man brought it back from a [space] shuttle, in which Spider-Man had to save two astronauts from their deaths after [the shuttle] crash-landed. Soon afterwards, the simbiot bonded with Spider-Man. For a while, Spider-Man enjoyed his newly increased powers that the simbiot gave him. But, soon [later, he found] himself changed (for the worst) and tried to get his living "suit" off. Finally Spider-Man separated from the simbiot by using the intense sound of church bells.

When the weakened simbiot tried to flee, it found Eddie Brock. The simbiot sees Eddie Brock as a good host because they both have a mutual feeling of hate for Spider-Man. Eddie Brock was once an ace reporter for the Daily Globe [and was] known for his discovery of the identity of the Sin-Eater. But Eddie did not check his source carefully. After Spider-Man captured the real Sin-Eater, Brock was disgraced. Not only did he lose his job, but he also lost his self-respect. ([which] he blamed on Spider-Man.) Since the alien simbiot had the same feelings of hatred against Spider-Man, it bonded with Eddie Brock. Their mutual hatred for Spider-Man made them want nothing more then to kill him. As a result, Venom and Spider-Man had many intense battles.

Venom has all the same powers as Spider-Man except his powers are all much stronger than Spider-Man's. Also, Venom can use his simbiot's tendrils as weapons. Venom is virtually unstoppable. Not even bullets can hurt him. The only weaknesses he has is intense heat and sonics (sound). Even though Venom is a sworn enemy of Spider-Man, his is the protector of all innocents, even though when Venom tries to do right, people end up dead. Also, although he can be a great hero, he is known for his deadly tactics. All of these traits make Venom a very dangerous enemy and a deadly super hero (even though many people take him as a super villain).
