DAZ Studio: Fix Part Warping Tutorial

I've been asked many times if my Poser models work in DAZ Studio and my response is "Probably, but maybe not". What kind of answer is "Maybe not"??
The issue is that some models have parts that warp when loaded into DAZ Studio. This is caused by Studio welding points with identical coordinates and not splitting the model into the appropriate groups. This is an issue that's been known for a long time and a forum thread was created about it back in March 2013 in the DAZ Commons Forum and the Renderosity Poser Forum

As of this writing in March 2019, the still hasn't been fixed in DAZ Studio, so here's my fix.

For this example, we'll be using the "Romero GX 500" SUV model. And as you can see, the doors warp when the model is loaded into DAZ Studio.

So, how do we do we fix this issue?
Simply export it from Poser. Really? It's that easy? Yes, it is!
Let's get started...

Applications used:

• Poser (any version)
• DAZ Studio (any version)
• Optional: A text editor, such as Notepad++
• Optional: Windows Explorer or any other file manager
Steps:

First, this tutorial will over-write the obj file for your model. You might want to use Windows Explorer (or your file manager) to make a backup copy first. This is optional so don't worry if you don't where the obj file is located.

1) Load your model into Poser as usual.
2) Go to File > Export > Wavefront OBJ.
3) In the Export Range dialog box, select "single frame" (the default) and click OK.
Export range

4) In the Select Objects dialog box, click the checkbox next to Universe to select nothing.
Then click on the checkbox next to the name of your model to select all the parts.
This is this best way to make sure only your model is selected and any hidden parts are also exported.
Click OK.
Select all; click for larger image

5) In the Export Options dialog box, uncheck everything except "Include body part names in polygon groups" and click OK.
Export options

6) When asked where to save the file, find the original location and save over the original obj file.

Optional: open the obj file in a text editor and delete all the "#" lines: these are comments so it doesn't matter if they're in the file or not.

** There is no need to edit the cr2 file and there is no need to open the obj file in a modelling program. **

7) Open DAZ Studio.
8) Add the model to the scene.
If the model has ERC/ Pose Control dials, adjust them to make sure no parts are warping.
