After going into space and being exposed to cosmic rays the team of Reed Richards, Sue Storm (his fiancée), Johnny Storm (her brother) and Ben Grimm (Reed's friend) would never be the same again. After crashing on Earth, amazing changes occurred making Reed's body elastic, [allowing] Sue to disappear in thin air, Johnny to ignite his body into living flame and, Ben, who gained amazing strength with amazing ugliness, as a big lump of rock. They became Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and The Thing and joined together to form the Fantastic Four. (Fantastic Four #1)
