Conceived by Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor (Jean Grey's clone), Nathan Summers was destined to destroy Apocalypse. As a child he was infected with a [techno-]virus. Having no way to cure this disease, his parents had to send him 200 years into the future. They had the people of that time cure him. Only problem was he had to stay quite a while. When he returned to [his] native time, he brought back a clone (known as Stryfe) with him that he had to destroy. When he returned, he was a good bit older. He gave himself the codename Cable because his body is part machine, the result of the virus' cure. He decided to change his calling, and instead of killing Apocalypse, he decided to take the members of X-Force under his wing. He continues to remain the leader of that team.
